July Release #1

We've made the following updates to Maecos.

Document editor and versioning

Explicit Versioning and Draft Management

Metadata-first form

The New Document form focuses on metadata up front: title, reference, category, workstation group, labels, and owners. This separates metadata entry from content upload or link creation, making it clearer which documents are in draft versus published state.

Drafts are now first-class citizens

Every time you start editing a document, Maecos now creates an explicit draft. Drafts are saved automatically but remain invisible to your team until you publish them. You can work on multiple drafts in parallel, come back later without losing changes, and delete any draft you no longer need.

My Drafts page

Publish with context and control

When you’re ready to share, publish your draft and add a “Reason for Revision” to keep everyone aligned. You can also subscribe to documents you own or care about, so you’re notified on every new version—perfect for frontline teams tracking the latest SOP updates.

New Block-Based Digital Work Instruction Editor

Simple, focused editing

We’ve rebuilt the instruction editor around content “blocks” (headings, paragraphs, lists, troubleshooting notes, images, videos, links). It’s not a Word clone—just the essentials your operators need to author or update step-by-step procedures on the shop floor.

Block Style Document Editor

Always saved, always navigable

Every block is auto-saved as you type. A live outline lets you jump between sections, insert new content, and preview how the final document will look—no menu hunting required.

Revision History with Major & Minor Versions

Clear version grouping

Published documents now show a block per major version. Expand any block to reveal all minor revisions, each tagged with its own reason—typo fixes, paragraph tweaks, or full content overhauls.

Ready for approval flows

While minor revisions are semantic today, they’ll power approval workflows in an upcoming release. Distinguish quick fixes from substantive updates and maintain full traceability.

Find an Expert

Search by position, colleague, or skills

Now you can launch a targeted expert search from anywhere in Maecos Learning or Operations. Open the Find an Expert tool, then:

  • Select a position (e.g. “Shift Technician” or “Quality Inspector”) to see all qualified employees in one view

  • Use a colleague as reference to find peers with a similar profile or skill set

  • Manually pick skills (e.g. “lock‐out/tag‐out,” “lean six sigma”) to locate specialists across your plant

Find an expert

Tailor results to your needs by choosing to search:

  • All users across the entire organization

  • A specific team—perfect for backup planning within a shift or department

  • Selected positions to compare expertise among defined roles

Whether you’re staffing a critical maintenance task, lining up backups for training, or simply discovering hidden talent, Find an Expert puts those insights at your fingertips.

Position Fit Check

Instant skills vs. requirements analysis

From any employee’s qualification overview, open the Position Fit Check modal and pick a target role. Maecos will instantly compare their current skills and qualifications against that position’s requirements.
